Lara leads the Kraken’s client licensing arm of Octopus Energy Group — one of the fastest growing “EnTech” companies worldwide, launched in 2016 to use technology to unlock a customer focused and affordable green energy revolution.
Driving full energy system change, Kraken operates in 11 countries globally and supports over 64 million customer accounts.

Prior to joining Kraken, Lara worked at US-based Opower, a customer engagement start-up and pioneer of Behavioural Energy Efficiency. Following an IPO and acquisition by Oracle Utilities, she moved to London with her family in 2018 before coming to Kraken to lead global sales and business development opportunities.

Roberta is the leader of the European industry research team at IDC. As Senior Vice President Strategy & Business Development Kristofer is responsible for questions related to strategy, new business development, M&A, Business execution & operational excellence and the collaborative work with the start-up / innovation clusters in the energy & climate space.

With the changing energy landscape a pivotal part of Kristofer’s work is dedicated to tightly collaborate with Ellevio customers and stakeholders to develop new offerings and solutions that will help Ellevio’s customers to successfully drive their journey within the energy transition and decarbonize there climate footprint. Kristofer also serves as a Board Member of Triangelbolaget AB, a company working with offering dark fiber solutions to international and national customers

With a background from leading positions at several management consulting firms Kristofer joined Ellevio in 2016. He has an international career mainly focusing on energy, industrial equipment’s and international trade. He holds a MSc. in Industrial Engineering & Management from the Royal School of Technology and a MSc in Business Administration from Stockholm University.

Ms Gallotti joined IDC Energy Insights in 2007, prior to which she collaborated with IDC Manufacturing Insights and IDC Retail Insights.

Ms. Gallotti supports the IDC Energy Insights team by researching, writing standardized reports based on annual surveys on Utility end users and their IT industry-specific solutions, enterprise solutions, budget spending and decision making strategies. She handles the IT spending forecast models for the IDC Energy Insights’ Utilities coverage and writing the appropriate reports. Ms. Gallotti also conducts qualitative research for the quarterly updates for both the Utilities and Clean Energy sectors, covering topics such as Smart Grids, Capture Carbon and Storage, Renewable energies, Distributed Generation and Energy Efficiency.

Ms. Gallotti is involved in IDC Energy Insights worldwide customs projects, as well as in the preparation and delivery ad hoc presentations for industry conferences given throughout EMEA concerning current events in the EMEA Utilities and Clean Energy sectors.

Ms. Gallotti graduated in May 2006 from the University of Puget Sound (USA) with a B.A. in both International Business and International Affairs with China. Mar Jorba joined Ferranti beginning of 2019 as Product Manager coming from the telecom industry.
Since her arrival, she focus on evangelizing the roadmap and vision of MECOMS 365 to the modern cloud platform it is today.
Within her domains, she built strong relationships with customer and key stakeholders to transform their needs into concrete product features.
She is also driving an innovation track within MECOMS that looks into new technologies and how they can be applied to utility specific trends.

Nuno Medeiros has a master’s degree in electrical and Computers Engineering with a major in Energy from the Faculty of Engineering of the University of Porto (FEUP) in 2008.

In the end of 2011, he became a Master of Science in Information Technology – Information Security (MSIT-IS) from Carnegie Mellon University and a Master of Science – Cyber Security from Faculty of Sciences of the University of Lisbon.

From September 2009, he started working for EDP Distribuição joining the department of Automation and Telecontrol, which was responsible for the mission critical systems of the Portuguese DSO. Prior to December 2011, he was responsible for managing and leading projects for the SCADA/DMS infrastructure. After that, he worked as a Cybersecurity officer for SCADA/DMS systems and Smart Grid projects. In 2017 he became head of the Cyber Security Department at EDP Distribuição, which is responsible for the end-to-end security architecture, coordinating and defining security and privacy requirements for products and processes, and maintaining the mission critical security level through a risk-based approach.

Since the beginning of 2020, he leads the “IT/OT Strategy and Cybersecurity” unit, responsible for defining and developing the architecture, platforms, applications, connectivity and IT/OT infrastructures of E-REDES (formerly known as EDP Distribuição), in an integrated context of cybersecurity and resilience, ensuring the support to the company’s digital strategy.

He is an industry representative in several working groups and projects at European level, having coordinated the EUTC and EDSO Cybersecurity groups, integrating the EU DSO Entity Cyber Security Expert Group, and being a founding representative and current board member of the EE-ISAC, and the chair of the executive committee of the Portuguese Energy ISAC.

He is also the director and a lecturer of the “Cybersecurity for Executives Program” at Porto Business School, focusing on raising awareness and building the foundations for an effective leadership of Cybersecurity by board members and top managers in Companies of all sizes and sectors.

Finally, he is regularly invited as a speaker at several European Conferences allowing him to share his vision and the path traced by EDP Distribuição on the topics of Cybersecurity and Privacy.

Jon has worked for the last 22 years building a number of successful energy companies, service innovators and disruptors across both Australia and the UK. Jon played a key role in establishing leading Australian energy suppliers Simply Energy (now part of Engie) and Alinta East Coast retail holding a number of senior roles across operations and customer experience.

Jon is currently the Chief Operating Officer of Octopus Energy Group and Kraken Technologies.

He has played a pivotal role in building and leading some of the most awarded and customer obsessed teams and the architect behind Octopus Group’s famed operating model. Jon holds an MBA in Business Administration from La Trobe University and Chifley Business School.

Ivan is an independent consultant helping businesses become carbon neutral through net-zero strategies, roadmaps and enterprise energy and environment impact modelling.
Before setting up his own consultancy business, Ivan headed Ørsted’s strategic business unit, Energy as a Service, and was responsible for leading the development of the new international energy solutions and services business for B2B customers.
Ivan joined Ørsted in 2011 as a programme manager for Ørsted’s virtual power plant (VPP) program; Power Hub, which was an integral part of the largest EU funded energy research and demonstration project: Twenties.
Ivan brings more than 10 years of experience from the energy sector plus 25 years of experience from the IT industry with more than 10 years of experience in implementing and operating complex IT systems at the customer side. Additionally, Ivan has more than 15 years of experience in roles as sales manager, product manager, innovation manager and member of executive management.
Ivan holds an executive MBA in Innovation and Technology Management from Aalborg University in Denmark and specializes in strategic energy management, customer driven innovation, technology management & marketing, programme management and organisational change.

Angela Salmeron has over 15 years of experience in the ICT industry and is currently a research director with IDC’s Worldwide Energy Transition Strategies, based in London.

In this role, Angela supports IT and Operations executives with insights on technology innovation, business strategies and regulatory compliance, helping them navigate their digitalization roadmaps towards achieving net zero carbon emissions.

Angela primarily focuses on energy efficiency, decarbonization and electrification initiatives across industries, particularly in energy intensive sectors. Beyond sustainability, she examines the business implications of the energy transition, particularly its impact on companies’ competitiveness and resilience. She believes that for the energy transition to succeed, it must also be financially advantageous.

Prior to this role, Angela was part of IDC’s EMEA Sustainability Technologies and Strategies, where she supported organizations and industry vendors with ESG reporting, Net Zero roadmaps and developing circular economies. Previously, Angela was responsible for Future of Work research, covering the digital workplace and the augmented worker.

Jeroen Scheer is Leader Digital Innovation and IT Manager Power Technologies (a.i.) at Shell since 2019. He leads the Digital Pathfinders Team. Jeroen has been active in the energy industry for more than 22 years and is considered as one of the core digital leaders and architects managing the transition of the energy sector and the grid in a transition that brings a very complex ecosystem from a rather mechanical entity in the age of digital, while in the mean time embracing and facilitating the full scope of the energy transition. He has been leading digital (innovation) teams at (a.o.) Vattenfall, Alliander and Nuon. Besides, he presides several international standardization bodies, and is lecturer at several universities.
Jeroen shows his passion, creativity and long-year experience to accelerate the energy transition by linking digitization, technology, market dynamics and the energy system of the future in such a way that everyone can use energy in a dynamic mix in a reliable, cost-effective and sustainable manner. Jeroen is a well-sought after keynote speaker on many conferences throughout the world. Besides, he presides several international standardization bodies, and is lecturer at several universities, and was awadred with the Make A Difference (MAD) award in 2021

Jean-François Segalotto is the Associate Research Director for IDC Energy Insights in Europe. In his role, he is responsible for conducting region-focused research providing full coverage of the utilities industry value chain. Segalotto leads the “European Utility IT and Operational Technologies Strategies” advisory service, which provides full coverage of the utility industry value chain. In his role, Segalotto covers a wide range of industry-specific themes, including smart grids, mobility, Internet of Things, connectivity and networks, and business systems supporting smart customer operations and digital transformation.

Leading up to his role in IDC, Jean-François spent over nine years as a market analyst in the telecoms, broadcast and digital media sectors, working first at ThinkTel (Milan), and e-Media Research (Milan, London). He has also collaborated as a research fellow and co-author with the IMF’s Monetary and Capital Markets Department on monetary institutional frameworks and monetary policy.

Segalotto is bilingual Italian-French and fluent in English.

He is based at the IDC Italy office in Milan.

Matthias leads the Digital Utility vertical in NAM. He has 22 years of experience in consulting, product & project management, IT solution delivery and solution sales helping customers integrate technology and implementing solutions from grid elements like HVDC to complex IT/OT solutions including MDM, DERMS and IoT Platforms with a focus on utilities.

Dipl.-Ing. Hellmuth Frey has an education in electrical engineering from the Technical University of Munich, Germany. Since 1996 he is working with EnBW Energie Baden-Württemberg AG in Karlsruhe. Since January 2000 Hellmuth Frey is Project Manager in the department „Research and Development“. Since 2008 he is Vice Head of Research and Development of EnBW. New projects are dealing with the development of flexible tariff structures for private customers and the future development of the electricity grid towards a smart grid with all implications resulting for grid regulation and power generation.

Matt Kirk is Head of Optimisation at Anglian Water, leading a department tasked with finding new and innovative solutions to improve performance and meet organisational goals around customer service and environmental protection. Matt has a background in Water Operations and Asset Management, with an Executive MBA from Warwick Business School, BSc in Business & Economics and is a Chartered Environmentalist. Matt is passionate about how new capabilities which harness data and digital, can provide opportunities to solve some of the complex challenges facing the Water Industry.

As Head of Digitalization & IT at the Swiss Electricity Industry Association (VSE/AES), Markus is a seasoned executive with a strong track record in leadership, management, and digital transformation. With extensive experience as a CIO and CDO in various industries, Markus brings a deep understanding of business strategy and IT strategy to the table.

Markus has a proven ability to develop and implement comprehensive digital business strategies and ecosystems. He is well-versed in agile methods and structures, strategic marketing, product management, and business development. Markus has led digital transformations and large-scale projects in international multicultural environments, developing data-driven business models to enhance competitiveness.

Markus’s expertise extends beyond digital transformation. He has led boards, steering groups, and task forces to orchestrate cultural change and develop winning digital experiences. He is also highly skilled in creating data strategies, governance models, and managing cyber security and risk & compliance (GRC).

Before joining VSE/AES, Markus served as an interim CIO/CDO and senior advisor for digital innovation and transformation in various organizations. Notably, he was the Global Head of IT and Digital Services for a global water system and e-mobility manufacturer, where he developed a digitalization strategy and roadmap, focusing on building a modern digital platform that includes e-commerce, IoT, connected vehicles, cloud services, big data analytics services, RPA, Industry 4.0 and ERP on SAP HANA for the shopfloor and corporate services.

Markus’s experience as the CIO at the Electricity Works of the Canton of Zurich (EKZ Group) has been instrumental in developing IT into a respected and valued business partner. He developed a customer-centric digital strategy that led to a high increase in EBIT contribution through annual operating cost reductions every year while improving business process efficiency and revenues through continuous digitalization and automation investments.

Markus holds an IT Degree, a degree in Business Engineering, and an Executive MBA in International Management from the University of Applied Sciences in Bern. He is knowledgeable in M&A due diligence and post-merger integration projects and holds a Strategic Marketing Certificate from the University of Cambridge. Markus has also completed the Oxford Blockchain Strategy Programme at Said Business School, University of Oxford.

Basil Scarsella is the Chief Executive Officer of UK Power Networks, owned by the Cheung Kong Group, which is the largest Distribution Network Operator in the UK, distributing electricity to over eight million homes and businesses across London, the South East and East of England. It has some 6,000 employees in its regulated and non-regulated areas. UK Power Networks has been ranked in the top 25 Best Big Companies to Work for 2015 and 2016 in the Sunday Times annual list and awarded Utility of the Year in the UK in 2012 and 2015.

Immediately prior to taking up his appointment with UK Power Networks in 2010, Basil was the CEO of Northern Gas Networks for five years. Northern Gas distributes gas to 2.5 million homes in the north east of England and also falls under the ownership of the Cheung Kong Group. Up until 2005, Basil was CEO of ETSA Utilities (SA Power Networks), the electricity distributor in South Australia.

Basil holds a degree in Economics from the University of Adelaide and is a Certified Practicing Accountant. He is a Life Member of Football Australia and former Member of the Executive Committee of FIFA. He received the Australian Sports Medal in 2000 and in 2003 became a Member of the Order of Australia (AM), for services to sport. He is the current Chairman of the Electricity Networks Association in the UK.

Mr Stenbeck is the Vice President of Consumer Sales Nordics for Vattenfall. With operations in Sweden and Finland Mr Stenbeck is commercially responsible for 1.3 million massmarket customers in Sweden and Finland, where Vattenfall is nr 1 and nr 2 respectively in market share. One of the key strategic focus areas is to improve customer experience, where he drives a transformation of way of working to improve speed and flexibility.

In previous roles within Vattenfall, Mr Stenbeck built up Vattenfall’s cross-border customer insights function (based in Berlin), was responsible for Sales Strategy and Business development. Prior to that, he was a management consultant both with Ernst & Young and within Vattenfall.

Fabio Veronese is Head of the Grids Digital Hub at Enel. In his role, he oversees the global Information Technology (IT) development and the digital transformation for Enel Grids business line. Previous to his current position, Mr Veronese led the Infrastructure and Technological Services of the IT division of the Enel Group for three years managing IT operations for the Enel group. He has 30 years of experience in IT, project management and business transformation and is a technology passionate. As Head of Grids’ Digital Hub he led the smart meter project implementation in Italy and is currently leading the global unification program and the digitalization program for the applications of the Distribution Companies of the Enel Group.

As Head of Infrastructure & Technological Services, Mr Veronese led the fastest and massive data migration to the cloud at corporate level, completing the restructuring in the way IT operations were managed in the Enel Group. Currently he leads the Technology and Transformation Committee of ENEL and since 2019 he has been actively involved in developing an original cloud native platform approach which he applies to the development process of all the IT solutions in ENEL. Fabio Veronese holds a bachelor degree in electronic engineering from the University of Padova, Italy and a Master’s degree in Leadership Awareness at INSEAD business school. He is married with one son.
